Mithila art is one of South Asia's oldest living craft traditions. Originating in the Mithila region of Nepal and Bihar, it has been painted by women for centuries — on walls, on floors, and now, on this tote bag.

Every bag in this collection is handpainted and hand-embroidered by artisans at Danfe Works, a social enterprise based in Kathmandu that provides on-the-job training and employment to marginalised communities in Nepal. The floral patterns you see are not printed. They are drawn by hand, one stroke at a time, by someone who learned this tradition and now earns a livelihood through it.

No two bags are exactly alike. That is not a disclaimer. That is the point.

Choose your colourway

Marigold — warm yellow and orange tones, vivid and joyful

Black and Orange — bold contrast, striking and confident

Black and Blue — cool and elegant, understated in the best way

Beige and Tan — earthy, natural tones that go with everything

Carry it

To the farmers market. To the office. To a gift exchange where you want to bring something nobody else has thought of. This bag works everywhere and means something everywhere.
