Jatra is a joyful Nepali board game for children, inspired by Gai Jatra, the beloved festival of laughter, procession, performance, and playful expression.
Created by Alchi in Nepal, Jatra invites children to make the queen laugh through silly stories, funny sounds, pretend acting, movement challenges, and imagination-led play. One moment they might be making robot noises. The next, they might be pretending to fly like a kite or telling a wonderfully strange story from the cards and board.
There are no wrong answers in Jatra. Every attempt is celebrated, which makes it especially beautiful for younger children, shy children, siblings, classrooms, and family gatherings. The game gently supports creativity, communication, confidence, social skills, and expressive play while keeping the mood light, funny, and full of laughter.
For Nepali families in Australia, Jatra is a meaningful way to introduce children to a piece of Nepali festival culture through play. For board game lovers, educators, and parents looking for screen-free activities, it is a warm, replayable game that encourages children to move, speak, imagine, and connect.
