Handcrafted in Nepal and individually painted by Mithila artists, this ceramic mug brings colour, pattern and storytelling to an object you reach for every day.

Choose from two hand-painted designs: the warm Sun & Yellow Florals, with its expressive sun face surrounded by delicate flowers and leaves, or the Lotus, featuring a distinctive botanical composition inspired by the visual language of Mithila art.

Each mug is painted freehand, with detailed linework and individual touches that reveal the hand of the artist. Small variations in colour, brushwork and pattern mean no two pieces are exactly alike.

Generously sized for coffee, tea or your favourite warm drink, it is a functional piece of art made to be enjoyed every day and beautiful enough to leave on display.

The craft

Hand-painted in the Terai region of southern Nepal by Mithila artists working with Danfe Works.

Mithila art is a long-standing artistic tradition known for intricate linework, bold pattern and visual storytelling. Once created on the walls and floors of homes, the tradition continues today through artwork and beautifully decorated everyday objects.

Natural variation

Every mug is painted by hand. Small variations in linework, colour, placement and pattern are part of the handmade process and make each piece individually unique.

Care

Dishwasher safe, but gentle handling is recommended to help preserve the hand-painted finish over time. Avoid abrasive scrubbers and harsh treatment.
